19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
